Our History
History
Batten & Shaw, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Jimmy Batten and Danny Shaw. They began with a crew of three people, which included the two owners. Their first project was a 16,000 square feet, two-story medical office building in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Jimmy Batten was both a superintendent and project manager on many HCA projects in the early eighties. It was on one of those projects in Hobbs, New Mexico that he crossed paths with Danny Shaw. Danny was a general contractor in Hobbs who was awarded a subcontract for certain trades on Jimmy’s project. While working together, their mutual commitment to excellence and hard work forged a close friendship which eventually led to Danny closing his business in Hobbs and relocating to Nashville to form Batten & Shaw, Inc. with Jimmy. Their dedication and determination to quality enhanced their reputation and allowed them many opportunities for repeat business, as well as, many opportunities to prove themselves to new clients.
